To All PelicanFest Triathletes (Update): Requested refunds have been mailed as of 7/31/08. Remaining funds will be calculated and donated by 8/31/08. The final donation amount will be posted right here as soon as the number is available.
To All PelicanFest Triathletes:
We are very sorry for the cancellation of PelicanFest on Memorial Day weekend and had put in motion the attempt to make up the event during Harvest Festival on Labor Day weekend, however because of a busy schedule of events this summer and planned construction, we will unfortunately not be able to reschedule the PelicanFest Triathlon. As you may well know we incur hard costs in promoting triathlons and of course we can’t guarantee a successful event when a natural disaster hits the area. If you would like a refund please submit your name to us at tmurphy@watervalley.com by July 31, 2008. All net proceeds will be donated to the Windsor Disaster Relief Fund. We would like to thank those of you who have supported us during this time. |

THE PELICAN FESTIVAL
Windsor is a unique Colorado city because each May flocks of stately
white pelicans land on its lakes for a month long respite during the
bird's migratory trek to the upper reaches of the North American
Continent. The Town of Windsor has portrayed the majestic bird on its
"Welcome' signs and literature for years, and its residents marvel at
the bird's unique appearance and annual visits.
Much like the swallows
are an infamous and popular migratory bird which returns each year to
the Capistrano coastal region of California - the pelicans are also a
celebrated seasonal visitor to the Town of Windsor and its lakes. Such
a unique, natural and timeless occurrence is worth honoring and
publicizing. And because of the pelican's unusual and unlikely
association with the Town of Windsor, so too, should be the event which
observes the transcontinental passage of the pelican.
